Review:
There’s a party at the barn. Mickey and Minnie make some music and Mickey dances with Clarabelle Cow, with a dachshund and with a fat pig, but not with Minnie.
The short contains no story, but is one of sheer joy, using tunes like Turkey in the Straw, Pop goes the Weasel, and Swanee River (performed by Mickey on a mouth organ).
‘The Shindig’ marks Horace Horsecollar’s first appearance as a completely humanized horse. It also contains the first love scene between Horace and Clarabelle Cow, who has her name written on the shed in which she lives.
Some of the animation from ‘The Shindig’ was reused in ‘The Whoopee Party‘ (1932), which elaborates on the party idea, producing a cartoon full of party delight, compared to which the ‘The Shindig’ pales.
Watch ‘The Shindig’ yourself and tell me what you think:
This is Mickey Mouse cartoon No. 20
To the previous Mickey Mouse cartoon: The Fire Fighters
To the next Mickey Mouse cartoon: The Chain Gang

Never seen a skirt just for the udder. Have anyone observed how many instruments Mickey can play: I’ve seen the piano, harmonica, drums and the violin. Are there more instruments known from other films?
